Raymond Poulidor, “The Eternal Second”.

Tuesday January 27th, 2015

Raymond Poulidor, born 15 April 1936 in France, was known as “The Eternal Second” because he never was able to win the Tour De France despite finishing second 3 times and third for 5 times. At age 40 he rode his last Tour De France.

In all of the 14 Tours Poulidor attended, he never once wore the yellow jersey either. This underdog role certainly did make him a crowd favourite!
